His Holiness Swami Ramdevji gives blessing for formation of
All Party Parliamentary Group to promote interests of Indian Health Sciences

Amarjeet Singh Bhamra, Satish Sharma, HH Swami Ramdevji, Lord King and Mrs Sunita Poddar (PYPT-UK)
Press Release - 24th July 2010
HH Swami Ramdevji and Lord King were guests of honour at a gathering of the UK’s leading Ayurvedic Doctors and Yoga Practitioners called to discuss the challenges faced by Ayurvedic and Herbal medicinal community especially in the light of the forthcoming EU legislation. Also participating were representatives of the major Ayurveda and Indian and Hindu organisations in the UK. The meeting had been called by Amarjeet Singh Bhamra of the saveherbalmedicine.com Campaign group to apprise Swami Ramdevji of the forthcoming legislative threat to Herbal Traditions and to seek his blessings for the formation of an All Party Parliamentary Group on Indian Sciences at Wembley on 10th July 2010.
Amarjeet informed the gathering of the challenges facing Ayurveda. In 7 months time (April 2011), it will not be possible to supply Ayurvedic herbs unless through a recognised medical professional, and in the UK Ayurvedic practitioners are not recognised as medical professionals. Further almost all Ayurvedic supplements, which are currently sold “over the counter”, will become restricted again to recognised medical professionals. This ban will apply Europe wide but we have a chance to prevent this here in the UK and to do this we need to act with urgency.
HH Swami Ramdevji, who has an international following of over 100 million yoga students, granted his blessings for a formation of a lobby group to focus on Ayurveda and Yoga in the UK, in the form of an All Party Parliamentary Group on Indian Sciences. This Group, he said will advise Parliament and help to protect the future of these practices and to make sure that Yoga, Ayurveda and other Indian Sciences continue to grow and develop in the UK without hindrance from uninformed Governmental or Commercial interests and went on to state that these practices are for the benefit of all mankind and that he would be happy to provide support to help a wider appreciation of these ancient Indian Sciences.
