The SKSS Temple on 22/24 Shaftesbury Road, Forest Gate, London, E7 8PD, will be celebrating its Silver Jubilee for the temple from Monday 26th August to Sunday 1st September 2013. The celebrations will begin during the morning and continue until the evening.
The SKSS Temple accommodates followers of a Hindu sect which is called Swaminarayan Sampraday and has over 20 million followers worldwide. The Temples celebration will welcome guests from all over the world such as India, Kenya, Australia and America. Local MP Steven Timms and local councillor are amongst the many guests who will be attending the festivities. Temples from up and down the UK will be participating during this event such as Bolton, Cardiff, Oldham, Willesden, Harrow, Leicester, Crawley and Stanmore Temple.
On Saturday 31st August, a procession from Wanstead Flats to the Temple via Green Street is planned to be vibrant, colourful and very entertaining with live music including Dhol players and folk dancers. The event has been organised by young volunteers. The week’s celebration will be vibrant and colourful, with live music, dramas and folk dancing.
The initial date for the celebrations had been planned for 2012, however since Newham was hosting the Olympics, the restrictions it caused meant the Temple were unable to carry out the celebrations. The voluntary organisation were devastated, but are further invigorated to deliver an enjoyable and memorable event, urging the local community to take part and support this tremendous event of a life time.
